Love Gaming but your mum won't let you? Here are some great points to convince her to let you game!

Action gamers make decisions 25% faster than non-action gamers. Yep, that's right! Now you can convince Mum to let you play 'Call of Duty'! In one study they got two groups to play an action-packed game - 'Call of Duty 2', while the other group played a simulator game - 'Sims 2'. This study showed that people who played 'Call of Duty' made decisions 25% faster even in tasks non-related to video games.

You'll be surprised...

Everyone will be burnt because oxygen helps protect us from the harmful UV Rays; there would be no beach to get burnt at, (the ocean will evaporate into space!)

We've done a lot in science yet we are still guessing why ice is slippery. Here are scientists best guesses!

Physicists once believed that ice became slippery when pressure was applied. they thought that pressure caused the top layer of ice to melt when say a skating blade passed over it then froze again once the blade had passed.

Why and how do fireflies glow?

Ever wondered why fireflies glow or how they glow? Prepare for your mind to be blown! (Not literally).

Lets start off with how:
The glow is referred to by scientists as cold light which is something that we're trying to incorporate into our own lights. Cold light means that the light doesn't give off a lot of heat unlike our lamp bulbs that usually give you a nasty burn. The light is formed with a chemical reaction, there is an organic compound called luciferin in their abdomens (stomach.) When air goes into their abdomen this creates a chemical reaction making the glow that we're used to. Fireflies also known as lightning bugs can control the airflow to the abdomen hence it can create an on and off pattern!

Do carrots help you see better?
The age old question, "Do carrots help you see better?"

Do your parents convince you to finish your carrots because they help you see better? Well now you can find out the truth. Before we begin, we need to go way back when the myth first began.

British pilots in World War II had this brand new technology that gave them the upper hand this was... RADAR!!! To make sure the enemies didn't find out about it they started a rumour that their pilots ate a lot of carrots.

How do snowflakes form?

Every snowflake begins with a dust or pollen particle...
when that particle comes into contact with water vapour high up in the earth's atmosphere, there you have the little crystal bead of a snowflake.
Now this snowflake is heavier than air making it fall. As it falls through the air, more water vapour freezes onto the snowflake. Every snowflake forms a hexagonal shape and will continue to grow on those edges. (Its hexagonal beginning shape comes from the atoms). This snowflake will continue to grow as it falls down to earth.
